ART PRINT - Facelift 03 silkscreen by Adriana Bergstrom

Part of a series I titled "Los Sociales" I found images of women who were in the social circles frequented by my maternal grandmother. She lived for the section of the Spanish language newspaper called "Los Sociales" or "Society" pages. I used this series of three prints to explore aging and plastic surgery and the way that newspapers were pretty unkind in terms of the quality of printing back then. Even if you had invested in facelifts and hours at the salon, the black and white imagery would erase it in the harsh contrast of the black and white. These are 3 to 4 color silkscreens all in editions of 7.

Facelift 03 features a smiling woman with an updo and a bun. She pencils or tattoos her eyebrows and paints over the edges of her lips. She wears big post earrings and a lovely necklace. Printed in beige, taupe, and brown. Composition is slightly to the right.

paper is 8" x 8.5"H, artwork is approximately 5" x 6" H
